Resource AppleInsider, citing Taipei Times, reports that Sony will soon begin producing screens for the upcoming iPhone 5 from Apple. It should be recalled that at the moment Apple is working with Toshiba, Sharp and LG. The most important part of this publication is that the new displays will use in-cell technology.

The advantage of the new display is its thinness, but the complexities of the new technology may lead to the fact that manufacturers are physically unable to produce the required number of screens - hence, apparently, the connection of resources from Sony. Some sources also claim that Taiwanese display manufacturers Chimei Innolux and AU Optronics are also preparing to produce screens using in-cell technology. They are unlikely to be able to cooperate with the Cupertinians, because production of displays can hardly be debugged in a short time.
And if Apple actually uses these displays, there is no doubt that the design of the new model will be redesigned. Naturally, everyone expected a redesigned iPhone last year when Apple introduced the iPhone 4S. But it is noteworthy that at that moment there were not even the slightest rumors about a new design or construction.
Interestingly, the Taipei Times does not feature Samsung as a display manufacturer. Which once again confirms the fact that the Cupertino company decided to “protect” its future brainchild from competitors as best as possible.
