According to recent rumors and facts, it has been suggested that the new iPhone 5 will have a smaller nineteen-pin dock connector. Such a move on the part of Apple will lead to the inability to use the numerous accessories included in the package for previous models of smartphones.
According to iMore, Apple plans to introduce a dedicated dock connector adapter for the iPhone 5 that will be compatible with all earlier iPhone versions that have a 30-pin dock connector.

In particular, the blog iMore, which denied rumors of a smaller dock connector back in February this year, now reports:
It is not yet known whether Apple will include the adapter with the iPhone 5 or sell it as a separate accessory.
There is also no exact information that the new iPhone 5 will actually feature a new 19-pin connector, but many facts give reason to assume so.
It's also worth noting that iMore is quite accurate in predicting Apple's actions. Earlier this year, the site quite accurately predicted the release date for the new iPad 3.
The release of a new smartphone from Apple is expected in late September or early October this year.
