Despite the fact that the chairman of Google Eric Schmidt predicted a general transition of developers to the Android OS, iOS still continues to be the most preferred operating system by developers. Analyst Gene Munster notes that his survey of hundreds of developers during WWDC 2012 shows that most
developers still prefer writing apps for Apple rather than Android devices.

iOS clearly outperforms other platforms in terms of ease of development and potential revenue - 84% and 64%, respectively. Of those surveyed, 55% also develop apps for Android, 14% for Windows, and 9% for BlackBerry.
Munster stated:
The analyst also added that the enlarged display of the iPhone 5 will not affect the adaptation of iOS applications for the new resolution. This is confirmed by a developer survey conducted by the analyst.

However, there are also skeptical people who consider the survey not convincing, for the following reasons:
- Quite biased judgments, since most of the WWDC participants were people who make their living using iOS.
- Relatively few people were interviewed.
Andy Rubin, "Vice President of Android" tweeted ahead of WWDC that Google executives consider the astounding 900,000 Android devices to be activated every day.
