In an interview with eWeek, an employee of the research company Global Equities Research, Trip Chowdhry broke news that Microsoft and Research in Motion will probably receive with sadness. According to his forecasts, by the end of 2012, under the control of two technology giants - Apple and Google, about 98% of the smartphone market will be held.

Earlier, experts from research firm IDC released their own report, which reported that at the time of the analysis, Apple and Google controlled only 85% of the global market. Therefore, the opinion expressed by the analyst can be called quite bold and unexpected. Moreover, such conclusions were made after a survey of only 15 developers of iOS and Android applications.
His idea is based on the fact that developers will primarily target those platforms that are in demand by a large number of potential users (according to him, Apple has about 400 million adherents around the world). The same cannot be said about Windows, for example.
At the same time, another analyst Dan Meikok from Slalom Consulting took the liberty to disagree with this forecast, referring to the fact that "Microsoft makes money on any Android device." He is confident that Microsoft has enough cash to gain more than just 2% of the smartphone market.
