After the release of Apple's new mapping application for iOS 6, the development came under an avalanche of criticism from both experts and ordinary users. All unanimously agreed that Apple Maps is significantly inferior to a similar application Google.

The reason for this is the emergency release for use of completely unfinished Maps, which will be finalized for a long time. One could write off such a rush in the release of the application by the fact that the contract with Google is about to end, but recently it became known that the deadlines were not at all tight.
Reporters from the New York Times published information that the contract with Google for the use of maps in IOS ends only in 2013. It turns out that the Cupertinians decided not to wait for the expiration of the agreement, although for another year in iOS 6 Google maps could be used, while Apple would be quietly engaged in the development of their Maps.
The emergency release of its development is explained only by the fact that the company wanted to quickly equip its devices with voice navigation and 3D mode, which is not in the previously used applications.
Nobody disputes that additional options make the program better. But when it comes to cards, the main thing here is accuracy, which is exactly what Apple's cards lack. This can be seen even on maps depicting large cities, to say nothing of small ones. Considering all of the above, as well as the fact that users are completely dissatisfied with the cards from Cupertinos, the early termination of the contract with Google does not seem to be the right decision.
