In 2017, more than 160 billion mobile applications will be installed on smartphones and tablets worldwide. Such data are presented in the results of the latest research of the analytical company Juniper Research. This is two times more than the number of programs that, according to the company's forecasts, will be installed on mobile devices by the end of this year.

One of the factors behind this rapid surge in downloads is the shift from mobile phones to smartphones in developing countries. This year, global smartphone shipments have surpassed mobile phone shipments for the first time.
In addition, the dynamics of downloads will also be affected by the increase in the number of Freemium-class applications that users can download for free and then pay only for specific functions and services. Currently, about 6.1% of all downloaded applications were paid for while downloading to a phone or tablet, in 2017, according to the company, this figure will drop to 5%.

According to experts' forecasts Juniper's Research, about 40% of the 160 billion applications installed in 2017, will belong to the category of "game."
