Having released the Windows RT operating system a year ago, the company representatives could not really explain to the audience how it differs from the usual Windows 8. And when they began to add the RT prefix to the names of the tablets, they finally confused everyone.

And this despite the fact that the partners warned the company's management against such a rash step, but the understanding of the truth came to them only now.
For example, Dell, which has been with Microsoft the longest and made its tablets, strongly insisted that there should be no analogy with Windows. Because the two systems have very little in common and, receiving a parody of a full-fledged desktop version, buyers were disappointed. The presence of an office suite and a set of utilities does not make Windows RT as functional as Windows 8, but this is not required, mobile platforms have different tasks. But how not to confuse one with the other, if the names are almost the same?
Surface RT and Surface Pro are two different product classes and, according to the idea of Microsoft managers, the presence of consoles would help users distinguish one from the other. But it turned out the other way around, and due to the abundance of criticism and low sales, the RT system, as such, failed. At the moment, no one in the world, except for Microsoft itself, intends to promote it and create RT- tablets. Well, not counting Nokia, which will still release the Lumia 2520 with Win RT on board. Where are you going to go?

Now Microsoft has fully realized their mistake and abandoned the RT prefix, deciding to just make Surface 2. The trouble is that the OS itself is also not perfect and, due to a number of significant flaws that have not yet been fixed, does not cause sympathy among the user audience. No one is stopping Microsoft from producing their tablets and installing Windows RT on them, but who will buy them after all this confusion with names and essence? Moreover, when the market is full of alternative offers based on iOS and Android.
