In an interview with David Rubinstein (co-founder of The Carlyle Group), Bill Gates called one of the most famous shortcuts, Ctrl + Alt + Del, a mistake. Gates said that initially only one button was responsible for similar functions, however, David Bradley, who created the IBM keyboard, insisted on his own and introduced the legendary keyboard shortcut.

The founder of Microsoft also said that the combination of Ctrl + Alt + Esc was originally conceived, however, later it was decided to use a keyboard shortcut that would exclude accidental pressing with one hand. Then IBM employee David Bradley introduced the legendary "shortcut", which at that time simply rebooted the computer. However, until the advent of Windows XP, pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del almost always one way or another led to a computer restart.

Gates believes that the introduction of such a combination was a mistake, however, it was almost impossible to do without it at the time - such a vulnerability could allow third-party developers to create fake application windows that would be used to steal user data. However, David himself Bradley notes: "I may have come up with this combination, but it was Bill Gates who made it popular."
