The Commercial Times reported that the Taiwanese contract semiconductor manufacturer TSMC will be producing the A6X mobile processors for the fourth-generation iPad tablets.

This should contribute to the fact that Apple will be less dependent on Samsung, which, on the one hand, was the main supplier of mobile chips for the Cupertin company for several years, and on the other hand, is the main competitor of Yabloko in the mobile market.

According to analysts, this trend will continue. Based on the data obtained by independent observers, Asymco experts analyzed how the production capacity of Samsung, which was previously occupied in the production of processors, will be distributed. Most likely, the changes will not affect the manufacturer in any way. The illustrations show the development of the situation.

At the moment, about 70% of Samsung's capacity is involved in the production of microchips for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. In 2012, the aforementioned devices needed 226 million chips. According to analysts' forecasts, this need will increase in 2013, but not only the Korean company will work to satisfy it. On the other hand, now Koreans can use the freed up resources to manufacture their products. The image below shows that it is not entirely clear at this point how Samsung's capacity will be distributed in the coming year, when Apple finally changes its manufacturer.

At the same time, the change in demand for the products of both companies after these rearrangements remains at the level of assumptions. Last year, Samsung had revenue of approximately $ 173 billion. Of these, 25 billion are earned from the production of semiconductors, which include both processors and memory, and much more.

Undoubtedly, Apple's refusal to cooperate with Samsung will not do much harm to the latter, if we compare it with the total income. But if we take an absolute expression, then quarterly losses will amount to several billion dollars. If Samsung can sustain the increase in sales of its mobile products, it will be able to compensate for the damage.
