At the conference "Mobile Internet in Russia and the World: Platforms, Consumption, Trends", an analysis of the use of mobile Internet among Russians was carried out. According to analysts, this year 29% of Runet users used mobile devices to access the Network - over the past year, this figure increased by 54%.
Experts say that men use the mobile Internet in Russia more - they make up 53% of the audience. As for the composite portrait of the average user of the mobile Runet, it turns out to be a young man under 30, who most often uses the mobile Internet from 22:00 to 24:00. On average, users spend up to 20 minutes on the Web, but this figure increases on weekends.
Most often, users check email and read online publications. According to analysts, the most active users are Android devices (49%), while iOS gadgets account for 26% of mobile traffic. The most common resolutions are 1024 x 768 and 320 x 480 pixels.
Ekaterina Petrova, head of telecom practice at Nielsen in North-Eastern Europe, presented other data on mobile device users. She claims that 9 out of 10 smartphone owners use SMS at least once a week, 72% - e-mail and 64% - instant messengers, and the Internet is mainly accessed via Wi-Fi (56%).
According to Petrova, at the moment, many smartphone owners use the limited capabilities of their gadgets, including sms, e-mail, a web browser and Wi-Fi, and do not intend to buy other, more modern devices in the near future.
