A US court has made the final decision in the dispute between Apple and Samsung. The court ordered Samsung to pay Apple compensation for patent infringement. The amount of compensation is almost $ 1 billion.

Legal disputes between the companies have been going on since 2012. Apple has accused the South Korean giant of violating a number of patents. Initially, the court ordered Samsung to pay $ 1.05 billion, later, as a result of protests, the amount decreased to $ 929.8 million. The final court decision and the final amount were $ 930 million.
There is some good news for Samsung, however. The court refused to prohibit the sale of devices manufactured by the South Korean company on the American market. According to the judge, the evidence provided by Apple is insufficient to impose a complete ban on the sale of Samsung gadgets. Judge Lucy Koch also stressed that there is no reason to impose a ban also because Apple has not proven that Samsung has a significant share of the market that belongs to Apple and, accordingly, negatively affects its sales. More precisely, Apple did not provide sufficient evidence that Samsung devices influenced the demand for its own gadgets.

This court decision is final only in a dispute over certain Samsung device models. Very soon, Apple and Samsung lawyers will return to court, where they will continue fierce legal battles. At the end of March, a court hearing will take place on another lawsuit in which the iPad and iPhone manufacturer accuses Samsung of infringing patents on its technology in new devices from the South Korean manufacturer.
