The new Mac Pro 2013 was first shown by Apple at WWDC 2013. A little later, in October, the computer was presented in more detail. Unusually for Apple, the company declined to give an exact release date. And so, the wait ended, last week, on Thursday.

It was then that Apple finally unveiled the 2013 Mac Pro - a machine not for the average consumer. It is more focused on professionals creating media content. Prices in the US for Apple's supercomputer start at $ 3000. But the question is: are business users willing to invest in this system instead of the usual consumer iMac 2013? Macworld reps tested the Mac Pro last week, and the tech blog released the test results on Friday. The proxy model tested by Macworld experts is not basic:
- Price - $ 6799;
- Processor - 8-core Intel Xeon E5, clocked at 3 GHz;
- RAM - 32 GB;
- Data storage - SSD, 512 GB;
- Video adapter - 2 * AMD FirePro D7000 with 6 GB, GDDR5 video memory each.

Comparing the Mac Pro to previous generations, Macworld believes that the computer has received a significant upgrade. For example, in the Speedmark 9 benchmark, the new workstation scored 312 points, while the 2012 Mac Pro only scored 191. However, judging by its characteristics, the new Mac Pro is not a significant step forward compared to other products. Apple of the current generation.

James Galbraith of Macworld team noted that the 2013 Mac Pro is without a doubt the fastest Apple computerthat he has ever seen. However, in tests, it showed only an 8% superiority over the previous leader in the ratings - the 27-inch all-in-one iMac 2013, priced at $ 2,699. iMac had the following specifications:
- Processor - Intel Core i7 with a clock speed of 3.5 GHz;
- Data storage - Fusion Drive, 3 TB capacity;
- RAM - 8 GB;
- Video adapter - NVidia GeForce GTX 780M.
Also, James Golbraith noted a significant difference in the cost of iMac and Mac Pro, namely $ 4100. Of course, the speed of the 2013 Mac Pro is unmatched, but those who counted on the overwhelming, fold superiority of the "newcomer" over other Apple products of the current generation will be a little disappointed.
