The Russian-speaking Internet community, including IT industry specialists, intends to react harshly to the State Duma's adoption of a law on combating copyright infringement. On July 3, a protest rally starts, which will take place on the World Wide Web itself and will last until August 1.

The date was not chosen by chance - it is on August 1, 2013 that the law that caused discontent of the people comes into force and there is a chance that the authorities will listen to the will and take action.
The scandalous bill was considered and approved by officials on June 21, despite all the objections of experts and the open discontent of Internet users. Most of the criticism of the provisions of this document boils down to the fact that it opens up huge opportunities for fraud due to imperfect wording. Law-abiding citizens and resource owners are not happy with the fact that their favorite sites can be blocked at the first request. That is, without a court decision, but simply at the request of a disgruntled copyright holder, even if the latter acts with a fraudulent purpose.

Moreover, the law threatens the work of even those resources that not only have nothing to do with the violations mentioned in the draft law, but in general, due to their specificity, do not deal with content that is covered by the concept of copyright. For example, those that use shared hosting and actually share the only real IP address, on the basis of which it is proposed to allocate and block "pirate" sites. Consideration of the validity of a claim by the forces of bureaucrats can drag on for a very long time, and a simple site will result in losses and loss of reputation - this is what activists fear.

The intended protest action, one way or another, will affect all users of the Runet, although at the moment only 425 site owners have officially agreed to take part in it. They, as well as everyone else, receive a small script for the browser in Java, which they voluntarily mount on their website. Now, when you try to access any page, a white window with a large and laconic inscription “The site has been blocked by the decision of government authorities. You will soon be able to observe such a message instead of any sites. " Having admired this message, you can click the "continue" button and use the site resources further, as usual.

But, as conceived by the authors of the idea, the very fact of the appearance of such an unexpected message will make an ordinary user think. And follow the link to a page with a detailed criticism of the "anti-piracy" law and a detailed description of the shortcomings of the blocking mechanism, as well as methods of circumventing the ban. And then - to the site with a petition against the most hated law, more precisely, with a public statement about the need for its substantial amendments.
In parallel, integration with social networks and statistics collection is provided, for which a separate server will be launched on the night of July 3. It will record all signs of civic activity of users, such as appeals to the text of the law itself and the petition, and following the results of the protest action, these data will be attached to the package of documents - as evidence that the "Runetites" are not indifferent to the current situation.
