Recently it became known that Microsoft is preparing to launch its own mobile voice assistant Cortana. Videos have appeared demonstrating how Apple's competitor Siri from the largest software corporation will work.
The Cortana service in the settings will allow you to choose the name that it will use when contacting the owner of the device. In addition, during the configuration process, the system will offer to specify some user preferences.
Cortana will be able to work as a service for saving audio notes. So, using Cortana, users will be able to save data about their location, important contacts, and the function of voice reminders is also provided. The service will receive some "smart" functions, for example, it will be able to track certain events (flights, tasks, notifications from e-mail) and, based on these data, generate reminders for the user. Cortana can search for answers to questions. The search base will, of course, be Microsoft's Bing service, as well as Facebook and Foursquare social services. There were even rumors that Cortana would replace Bing's voice search feature.
While the service exists in the form of a prototype, it is not available to users, and you can only get an idea of its capabilities from a video. The corporation plans to introduce Cortana at Build 2014 along with the announcement of Windows Phone 8.1. Rumors that Microsoft is preparing its own analogue of Siri have been circulating for a long time - last year it was planned that the Windows Phone 8.1 version will receive its own voice service. Microsoft's name Cortana was chosen after one of the characters in the popular Halo game series.
