As previously reported, Mozilla engineers are currently working on a new operating system called Firefox OS based on HTML5. With the help of various tools, the developers managed to create a pleasant-looking interface, somewhat reminiscent of the combination of Android and iOS.
Below we invite you to check out some of the official screenshots of the user interface and other applications of the Firefox OS system.
Firefox OS supports everything you would expect from a modern smartphone, incl. calls, text messages, calendar, contacts menu, camera control and work with other applications, which are displayed as a grid on the display of the mobile device.
The new HTML5 operating system is unlikely to outperform the popular iOS 6 or Android Jelly Bean systems yet, but Mozilla claims it will be "lighter and much faster." In the long term, it can be expected that, having high compatibility, the new operating system will be able to receive wide support among developers of all kinds of mobile applications and from smartphone manufacturers.
Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are expected to power Firefox OS devices. The new gadgets will be marketed in the ultra-budget mobile market, and will primarily target those users who choose their first smartphone.
What can I say, the screenshots do look promising, I think an inexpensive smartphone can really please its potential buyers.
