One of the main advantages of Android smartphones is undoubtedly the lower cost compared to Apple gadgets. At the same time, the tendency to increase the gap between the average prices for the iPhone and devices controlled by the "green robot" has been continuing for three years.
Analysts from Statista analyzed the situation and found that today the average price of an iPhone is more than twice the price of an average Android smartphone. Naturally, this is not at all an unconditional advantage, because a device running an operating system from Google is not only a Galaxy, Nexus or HTC One, but also a whole galaxy of little-known Chinese manufacturers, whose product quality raises well-grounded concerns. Nevertheless, it is this trend that is one of the key factors in the growth of Android's share of the smartphone market in unit terms.
According to a study by Statista, in 2010 the average Android smartphone cost $ 441, and in 2013 this figure dropped to $ 276. Cupertin's gadgets are also falling in price, from $ 702 to $ 650 over the same period. The naked eye can see the difference between the goals of manufacturers - while Apple is trying to maintain the brand and continues to produce exclusively premium products, the creators of Android smartphones are betting on the emerging and large Asian markets, where it is much easier to sell cheap goods. Thus, the gap between the average iPhone and non-iPhone prices has grown from $ 261 to $ 374 in just 4 years.
