Megafon became the second mobile operator from the Big Three to sign a second contract for the sale of Apple smartphones in Russia. According to this contract, certain obligations are assigned to the company, among which are the costs of marketing the devices.
We would like to remind that earlier VimpelCom (TM "Beeline") received the contract for the direct delivery of iPhone in Russia, but the details of the agreement have not yet been published. If we talk about the Megafon contract, the operator undertook to purchase 750 thousand smartphones from the Cupertino company in three years, as well as to invest about 1 billion rubles in marketing promotion of Apple products in Russia. It is noteworthy that it is not known for certain how the cooperation between Apple and Megafon ended in 2010 - then the domestic mobile operator could not realize the promised number of devices, but was not fined.
It is also worth noting that operators who have signed direct agreements with Cupertino are presumably receiving a number of unwritten preferences. For example, VimpelCom, the first to sign a contract with Apple, was the first to get rid of a software plug that prevented the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c smartphones from connecting to domestic 4th generation LTE networks. The only representative of the "Big Three", still resorting to iPhone supplies through intermediaries, is MTS.
