Hackers iH8sn0w and Winocm have released a modified jailbreak tool for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4G running iOS 6.1.6. The release of the update can be called somewhat strange - yesterday iH8sn0w announced that users should not wait for the update.

The new version of the iOS 6.1.6 operating system was released on February 21 to eliminate the discovered SSL / TLS connection verification vulnerabilities. Together with it, a similar patch was released for a newer platform - iOS 7.0.6, however, a few days later Evad3rs studied the update and released a modified utility Evasi0n7 1.0.6. As for the untethered jailbreak of iOS 6.1.6, iH8sn0w claimed on his Twitter that there will be no jailbreak tools for this version, however, today the P0sixspwn 1.4 package has appeared in Cydia, designed for this very purpose.

Recall that to jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 - 6.1.6, you must first make a tethered jailbreak using the RedSn0w utility (instructions are here), and then install the free P0sixspwn tweak from Cydia. In addition, the "sources" of the tweak are in the public domain and anyone can modify them at their own discretion.
