The editor-in-chief of 9to5Mac, Mark Gurman, reports that the next version of the operating system is codenamed Syrah and looks very similar to iOS 7. However, the changes are rather cosmetic; Apple developers are not going to change the user interface and control system yet.

The task is simple - to make the new version of OS X lighter and more transparent, as such innovations in its mobile "sister" generally liked the users. Mr. Gourmet has information that the new design actively uses frosted glass effects, the outlines of icons and buttons have become clearer, and the overall gamut is lighter, although they did not change the palette. The similarity with the "flat" seven is obvious, but there is no need to talk about the same radical changes as between iOS 6 and iOS 7.
At the same time, both operating systems remain different products, with their own interfaces - no merging is planned. And, as Apple top manager Craig Federighi notes, it's not that they were released at different times and for a specific audience. It's just that the Mac desktop and the mobile iPhone are too different technically. And it makes no sense to mix the technology of working with a mouse and keyboard, honed over 30 years, with a system of commands from swipe gestures.

The principal position of the apple company is that each category of electronic devices has its own niche, purpose and "dress code". Trying to integrate touchscreen displays into desktop workstations is possible, but unwise, as well as redesigning the interface for the sake of fashion trends. This is, if you will, the sense of duty and good taste that all Apple developers have when they design devices to be ideal for specific tasks, not a general-purpose product. At the same time, platforms can acquire visual similarity, but in essence they remain different.

The company's trusted testers have already received the first builds of the new OS X and can share their impressions. The interface, they say, has changed and Syrah does not look like its predecessors. However, this is not at all the "revolution" that was observed during the transition from iOS 6 to the new OS 7, the "flat" desktop system, despite the fears of some users, did not.
