Microsoft is planning to release a new version of its Office for Mac 2014. The appearance of this software product is expected in the second half of 2014, although initially the corporation planned to release this application in the first half of the year, and before that the appearance of the software product was expected at all in 2013.

This was announced by representatives of the German division of Microsoft Germany. The date of the new release is currently unknown. Microsoft said that Office 365 subscribers will receive the new version of Office for Mac 2014 for free.
At the moment, the current version of the software product is Office for Mac 2011, it was released back in October 2010. It is obvious that this version is significantly inferior in functionality to the version of the office suite for the Windows operating system. Representatives of Microsoft Germany in an interview at Cebit 2014 said that the company is simultaneously working on new versions of its Microsoft Office suite for several platforms, including iOS. The corporation released the Office Mobile version last summer. It is not particularly highly regarded by users of Apple devices - its rating in the App Store is about 2.5 on a five-point system.
Microsoft releases versions of Office for Apple on average once every 3.5 years, much less frequently than its Windows updates. Therefore, on Apple devices, the software product from Microsoft has long been inferior to the solution iWork, which has become a real competitor to Microsoft Office.
