Microsoft is ditching one of the most well-known brands in the mobile device market in its entire history - Nokia's mobile division will be renamed Microsoft Mobile. This event will be the final chord of the acquisition of the assets of the Finnish company.

Cybersecurity online publication reports that Microsoft has sent letters to all partners of Nokia, in which they notified about the renaming of the company's mobile division. At the moment, it is difficult to assess the prospects of such a rebranding, as well as to find out its true prerequisites. It is quite possible that Nokia, which sold its mobile production to the Redmond corporation, will continue to release other devices under its own brand, for example, smart watches. Let's remind that Nokia in recent years has been the main production partner of Microsoft, producing smartphones running Windows Mobile.

It is also worth noting that the deal, which will close on April 30, also provides for the transfer of rights to license Nokia patents to the software giant for a 10-year period. The total amount that Microsoft will spend on such a takeover of Finnish assets is $ 7.2 billion.
