The new tablet (or already a laptop?) With a screen of 12.9 inches will be the first Apple device on a completely new operating system. The OS will integrate two operating systems at once - desktop OS X and mobile iOS. This is reported by the Taiwanese portal Digitimes with reference to the suppliers of the "apple" concern.

According to the publication, Apple is now working on two prototypes of the iPad 12.9 '. The first model is a 2-in-1 device; it will receive a system that combines elements from both Apple operating systems. The second is iPad in the traditional sense of the word.
Digitimes also notes that none of the "big" iPads will be available until 2015.
The idea of combining OS X and iOS into a single platform does not seem like something fancy. In the latest versions of Apple's operating systems, both the mobile and desktop OS of the Cupertinos are acquiring more and more common features. JP Morgan Bank analyst Mark Moskovitz has already announced that Apple is working on a "combo" operating system in which an iOS device is connected to an external display. Thus, the user gets a "computer" at his disposal and can perform those tasks that he could never fully perform on a mobile device.
True, in January 2014, Apple vice presidents Phil Schiller and Craig Federighi assured MacWorld journalists that the merger of OS X and iOS is "not an end in itself" for the company. At Cupertino, Phil and Craig said at the time, they want to continue to make the best products for specific tasks. And at WWDC-2014 in June, Federighi, describing the "Continuity" functionality for iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, noted:
Recall that in iOS 8 and OS X 10 the "Handoff" function is declared. Thanks to it, one or another task can be started on one Apple device and finished on another. Users will also be able to answer calls directly from the Mac. IPad and Mac will also be able to send SMS from non-Apple devices. It is possible that Cupertino will develop precisely this "integration" direction, and a completely hybrid system from OS X and iOS is just a figment of the imagination of Taiwanese from Digitimes and their informants.
The 12.9-inch iPad is expected to ship by early 2015. According to some reports, it will receive an ultra-high-resolution display and a thin body in the spirit of iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display.
