Apple regularly updates its major product lines, with only the Apple TV set-top box and iPod media players being stagnant. However, BuzzFeed columnist John Paczkowski believes that the company will introduce Apple TV 4G with updated functionality in early summer.

Citing knowledgeable sources, the investor brief claims that Apple intends to redefine the set-top box by equipping it with a built-in flash drive for storing games and applications. To create content, third-party developers will be involved - they will receive the appropriate SDK and the ability to publish their applications to the App Store. In addition, the new generation of Apple TV should have a virtual assistant Siri and functionality Airport Express, allowing you to use the device as a wireless access point.
Paczkowski also believes the new Apple TV will be able to interoperate with other cable boxes and TV stations. For this, a universal interface will be implemented that will allow working with third-party devices. Naturally, to implement this functionality, Apple TV will need a significant hardware upgrade. According to insiders, the set-top box will receive a 64-bit Apple A8 processor and a built-in 8 GB flash drive.
