You are the owner of the most incredible laptop of 2015. And you have a problem. In pursuit of design, Apple has given up additional ports, so you simply have nowhere to connect a mouse, flash drive, and other peripherals. What to do? Go to Kickstarter and fund an advanced hub called BranchBox !
The creators of the accessory started with design. Here BranchBox has a "complete set" - a CNC-machined aluminum body, rounded corners and matching MacBook body colors (silver, gold, "space gray"). The docking station is only 13 mm thick - just like the laptop for which it was created.
The accessory also has functionality that is somewhat unusual for such things. The developers of BranchBox added LED indicators for charging to the design. Orange indicates that the MacBook is still charging, green indicates that everything is ready and can be turned off. The indicator is built into the body so that it can be seen from all sides. If the power supply is not connected, the LED backlight simply does not light up.
How about connectors? BranchBox received 4 USB ports and a miniDisplayPort for connecting to external monitors. The developers assure that four USB in combination with a monitor output will be enough for any activity at the computer - from office work to editing photos, videos and working in professional programs.
The built-in software deserves a mention - it allows you to plug and unplug the charger and transfer data or video at the same time without interruption. Video streaming is supported in 1080p (HDTV) at 60 HZ or 4k at 30 Hz.
From a technical point of view, the new accessory is generally very interesting. The creators of BranchBox are proud to announce that they have solved the main problem of USB Type-C accessories. According to them, there are no special microcircuits on the market that could correctly interact with USB-C in MacBook (charging, data transfer, etc.).
Engineers took an existing chip, created special software for it, and believe that they have the most reliable and functional product on the market.
Kickstarter users clearly liked the $ 99 accessory - they have already raised the necessary $ 25,000 for its launch. BranchBox will begin shipping to customers in February 2016. It is better to leave an order now - after it appears in regular stores, the new accessory will be sold at a price of $ 119.
