Currently, the personal computer market is going through hard times. Amid the general decline, Apple became the only manufacturer to see a surge in desktop sales in Q4 2015, according to analyst firm Gartner. In addition, the "apple" corporation for the first time entered the top 5 world manufacturers, behind Lenovo, HP, Dell and Asus.

Apple shipped 5.7 million computers in Q4 2015, increasing market share to 7.5%, according to analysts' report. In 2014, these figures were 5.5 million copies and 6.7%. Lenovo is still the leader in sales with a result of 15.4 million computers (20.3% of the market). The second position is taken by HP (14.2 million units). Its market share was 18.8%, down 8.1% compared to 2014. The third and fourth lines are occupied by Dell and Asus, which delivered 10.2 million and 6 million desktops, respectively. As for Acer, it sold 5.3 million devices in the fourth quarter of last year. In total, global manufacturers delivered 75.7 million personal computers, down 8.3% from the previous year.

In the US, analysts estimate that Apple sold 2.2 million desktops during that period, increasing sales by 6.5%. The experts also noted the growth of Lenovo sales (2.1 million units), the results of Asus compared to 2014 did not change (1.2 million PCs). HP and Dell sales declined significantly.
In Q4 2015, global manufacturers sold a total of 16.9 million desktops in the United States, which is 3.1% less than in 2014. As noted by Gartner experts, unlike the year before last, in 2015 desktop computers were not very popular during the holiday sales season. As a rule, users preferred other electronic gadgets such as televisions and wearable devices.

According to analysts, in 2015 Apple shipped a total of 20.7 million computers to the global market, up 19.6% from 2014. The first place in sales remained for Lenovo (57 million computers), the second was taken by HP (52 million), the third and fourth positions were Dell (39 million) and Asus (21 million). Gartner's estimates almost completely coincide with the analysis of another expert company, IDC. It should be noted that the companies' data are preliminary and may still change.
