After Apple acquired the Beats company, a huge number of rumors appeared on the web regarding the possible reasons for the conclusion of such a deal. Some Internet users believe that Cupertinos are interested in producing high-quality headphones for their mobile products. Others, in turn, are confident that the deal came about thanks to the streaming service Beats Music.

It can take months, if not years, before we know the true reason for buying a company. Nevertheless, the author of the Steve Jobs biography, Walter Isaacson, spoke about his own theory, which, in his opinion, was the reason for the acquisition of Beats. In his opinion, the deal has nothing to do with music, headphones or wearables.

Isaacson is sure it's all about the video. He told the journalist Dan Lyons of Billboard about this. According to the writer, one of the key points in the acquisition is Jimmy Ayovin (Jimmy Iovine), who, along with rapper Dr.Dre founded the Beats. It was Iovine who in 2003 convinced the five largest music labels to start collaborating withiTunes, and then advised Jobs to buy Universal Music Group. The co-founder of Apple never made such a deal, even though it could bring the company huge success.

Now, according to Isaacson, Tim Cook intends to involve Iovine, the founder of the largest music label Interscope Records, to manage the content department. Moreover, the current head of Apple allegedly wants him to help him in the release of the Apple iTV, which has been rumored for a long time.

Note that in 2004, Iovine made a lot of efforts to ensure that the U2 group signed an agreement with Apple to create the popular line of iPod U2 (Special Edition). Therefore, many fans of the American company believe that he will be able to strike deals with suppliers of video content for Tim Cook's set-top box.

For several years now, information has been circulating on the Web that Apple is working on a major update to Apple TV. In particular, many users claim that next time the set-top box will come with an updated user interface that will allow you to enjoy a wider selection of content.

Perhaps because of the connections and charisma, Iovine, well known in professional music circles, will be able to achieve the same success for Apple in the field of video services. It should be noted that the possibility of the first appearance of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre as Apple's top executives in early June this year at the WWDC.
