The popular Google Chrome browser is often accused of excessive power consumption. In the "corporation of good", of course, they know about the problem, and are actively working on its solution. The results are already there - in just a year "chrome" became more economical by a third. A clear proof is below.

A post appeared on the official Google blog that starting with Chrome 53 for Mac and Windows (link below), the browser consumes 33 percent less energy when viewing images, videos and web pages than version 46 originally from October 2015.
What does this give us in real life? Google explains the benefits of this achievement with a simple experiment. One of the two test laptops has the latest version of Chrome, the other has 46 Chrome. Under the terms of the experiment, they are disconnected from the outlet and start playing HD video from Vimeo. Who will last longer?
The latest Chrome, of course! In Google's test, it played videos continuously for 10 hours and 39 minutes - 2 hours and 12 minutes longer than last year's version of the browser. So fans of watching videos on a laptop on the road are strongly advised to check the relevance of their version of Chrome.
Over the year, Chrome has become not only more modest in appetite, but also faster - by 15%, according to special tools like the Speedometer. By the end of the year, the browser will work even better - Google plans to ditch Flash support in favor of HTML5. As a result, sites will become better as well - webmasters will be forced to optimize their pages for the most popular Internet browser in the world.
