The developers added a new Explore tab, improved faster search, an Editor's Choice category for highlighting apps recommended by the store, previews with the ability to watch short demos directly in the App Store, app bundles and other. Apple also announced a new beta testing service called TestFlight, which was created by the developers of the recently acquired Burstly.
Apple said that a total of 1.2 million applications are currently available for download from the App Store. The store has a weekly audience of 300 million visitors, most of whom do not just “shop windows”, but also download programs. More than 75 billion apps have been downloaded since the inception of the App Store, according to the company.
In addition, the company has shipped a total of 200 million iPads, 500 million iPhones and 100 million iPods to date, and the number of users of these devices has grown by 130 million over the years. These statistics should, according to the company's management, emphasize that the iOS mobile platform remains the fastest growing on the planet, despite the leading position of Android in terms of the number of activations.
