Yesterday, the next annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony took place, at which two prizes were awarded to Danny Boyle's "Steve Jobs".
During the ceremony, a biopic about the founder of Apple was nominated for four awards at once: Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Soundtrack. The film, however, won only two Golden Globes - for the script (Aaron Sorkin) and the supporting actress (Kate Winslet). The remaining two nominations were won by The Survivor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and The Hateful Eight (Ennio Morricone soundtrack).
Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs hit the movie screens last year and failed at the box office, not even raising the money it spent on production. Critics' assessments also did not differ in favor of the film, and the picture did not gain popularity among ordinary viewers. The current award may have a positive effect on the overall collection of Boyle's creation, however, it is unlikely to go further in order to recoup the budget.
The script for the film was written by Aaron Sorkin, known for his work on The Social Network and The Man Who Changed Everything. It was he who got one of the Globes, although no less serious writers competed with him in the nomination. The Golden Globe Awards are considered the second most important American film awards. It is possible that "Steve Jobs" will also be positively assessed by film academics at the upcoming Academy Awards.
