This week has been very successful for the filmmakers of Steve Jobs. First, Aaron Sorkin and Kate Winslet received the prestigious Golden Globe Film Awards for Best Screenplay and Supporting Actress, respectively, and now it has become known that the picture was nominated for an Oscar.
More precisely, the nominees were Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet. Note that Fassbender, who played a brilliant Steve Jobs, has every chance of getting the coveted statuette for Best Actor in a Leading Role. The actor's rivals were Brian Cranston for his role in Trumbo, Matt Damon (The Martian), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Survivor) and Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl). Notably, early in the production of Steve Jobs, DiCaprio was seen as a contender for the lead role, which Fassbender ultimately won.
Oscar-winning Kate Winslet may again receive a statuette, this time as Best Supporting Actress. Note that for the role of Joanna Hoffman, she has already been awarded the Golden Globe. Winslet's rivals include Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Rooney Mara (Carol), Rachel McAdams (Spotlight) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
The 88th 2015 Academy Awards for Film Achievement Awards will take place on February 28 at the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles.
