And this is not necessarily about the distribution of unlicensed content. For example, the same Linux distributions are quite officially distributed using torrents. It is not surprising that today almost any modern computer has a torrent client installed.

However, this technology is intended not only for one-way information transfer, it can also be used to transfer files to your friends. Let's imagine that you have an archive of several tens of gigabytes. There may be disc images, photos, videos, layouts, other data …

Most often, we record all this on a USB flash drive or external hard drive and go with them on a trip. But sometimes this option is simply not possible (for example, there is no suitable drive available). Waiting for downloads to some hosting or to the cloud is also not a quick thing, besides, they are also limited in free volumes and download speeds. But there is a reasonable solution - transfer files from computer to computer using a torrent client. To do this, you need to create an appropriate small file, transfer it through a messenger or mail, and then simply enable the computer to distribute information.

This solution does not have any restrictions on the speed or volume of data transfer. And if the connection is broken, you will not have to restart the download. And here's how to take advantage of this solution.

How to create a giveaway?

The first step is to create a distribution. Let's try to transfer a folder with multiple video files. The principle of operation of all torrent clients will be approximately the same. We will look at an example of working with the free qBittorrent torrent application for Windows, Mac and Linux.

1. Download (link), install and run the qBittorrent application on your computer.

2. Drag the folder with files to the application window. The application will offer to create a distribution based on them.

Check the box next to the item "Start distribution immediately".

It is worth making sure that the settings will not have a checkmark next to the item "Private torrent" - we need the work of the decentralized DHT network.

3. Click the Create Torrent button.

The client will ask for a name and storage location for the torrent file being created. It can be placed, for example, directly on the desktop.

4. Wait until the end of the distribution creation process. Its speed will directly depend on the amount of information planned for transmission, but usually everything takes a few minutes. After the message about creating a torrent appears, click OK and close the window.

How to transfer a torrent file to another user

The result of the previous steps will be the appearance on the desktop of a file in.torrent format.

Transfer it to the recipient in any way convenient for him, it can be email, Viber, Telegram, etc. The recipient can only open this file and wait for the download to start. It may take just a couple of minutes.

If you do not want to transfer the file or there is no such possibility, then you can do otherwise. Click on his right hand mouse button and select " Copy magnet - link ".

The copied text can now be sent to the recipient as a message. He needs to be in your torrent client, press " Add torrent - file " in the address field to specify the resulting type of link:

It remains only to agree that you two have computers turned on during the transfer of data. But no one bothers one of the pair to disconnect, and then return to the distribution again - the download will resume exactly from the point at which it was interrupted. After the download is complete, you can simply delete the file or folder from the distribution list in the torrent client. But you should be careful not to delete the data itself.

With this simple method, you can quickly transfer large amounts of data to each other based on torrent technology.
