Over the past 15 years, visual effects have become an integral part of the filming process of almost any blockbuster, and for some viewers they are even the main criterion for the quality of a film or series. Game of Thrones effects studio Rising Sun Pictures has released a video showing the process of creating just one scene that can impress millions of viewers.
Disclaimer - The text and video below contain a spoiler for the 6th season of the series. This is the final episode of the last, at the moment, season of "Game of Thrones", in which Cersei Lanister deals with enemies with a massive explosion in the Great Sept. The video below demonstrates how much effort Mackevision (the main visual effects contractor) and Rising Sun Pictures (directly involved in the explosion) put in to create this scene.
A new cut of unsuccessful takes from the filming of the 6th season also got on the network. Obviously, the creators of the series find it easier to draw a dragon or a zombie than to get Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) to pronounce the word "benevolent" correctly.
At the same time, Dinklage can make serious speeches with an absolutely imperturbable face in a situation when the entire film crew can hardly hold back their laughter.
