Google has announced an update to the proprietary photo application Photos. In the next update of the official clients for Android and iOS, a button " Free up space " will appear - by clicking on it, the program will automatically delete the content already saved in the Google Photos cloud from the device.

Some innovations also appeared in the web version. When working with the Google photo application through a browser, you can now reduce the resolution of previously uploaded full-size photos.
IPhone or iPad users, whose gadgets are about to run out of free space, will receive a notification from Google Photos about the possibility of deleting photos, copies of which are already in the cloud.

The Google Photos service quickly gained popularity due to one of its features - the "corporation of good" allows you to store in it an unlimited number of photos in good quality (only images larger than 16 megabytes are compressed).

Why use Google Photos instead of Apple's Photos app.
Original quality mode allows you to upload images at any resolution, but the amount of available storage is determined by the free space on Google Drive. If there is too little unallocated space left, "heavy" photos can now be compressed to normal size.
