Celebratory releases in the App Store of games from the creators of the famous Grand Theft Auto series from Rockstar Games are already becoming a tradition. This year, Bully: Anniversary Edition has been added to the range of mobile games, a third-person open-world adventure game in which users will have to help fifteen-year-old Jimmy Hopkins climb the hierarchy of the rotten from within the private Bullworth School.

In the shadow of Grand Theft Auto, the Bully project did not receive even the share of the fame it deserved. Its release took place between the release of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and went almost unnoticed. Only with the release of the revised version of Bully: Scholarship Edition did the game gain real recognition. In fact, the mobile version of Bully: Anniversary Edition is the second re-release of the Scholarship Edition, with support for high-resolution screens, improved graphics, a touch-friendly interface, and a new online mode called Challenges of Friends.

According to the plot, Jimmy Hopkins is a typical prankster, whom his mother and her new spouse leave on the doorstep of Bullworth Academy - a school where outsiders and other unpleasant personalities study, and they themselves go on a honeymoon trip. Jimmy quickly makes two friends - Gary and Petey and finds out that the school has its own groups: nerds, athletes and, of course, hooligans. Each clan has its own place, its leader and its own attitude towards the newcomer. The first part of the game Jimmy will help his sociopathic friend take control of the school, and the second part will proceed in a completely different way.

As we advance in the game, it becomes clear that we have the same GTA, only without cars. The game mechanics, the hooligan atmosphere and fights are almost similar to Grand Theft Auto, but the game is not worse from this. Rather, it is a "lightweight" version of GTA: cars and rocket launchers here replace skateboards and slingshots, you can attack everyone, but no one kills anyone.

Also, do not forget that we are at school, which means that Jimmy will have to attend various lessons. That is, you will have to quit what you were doing before and rush to classrooms in order to be in time before class starts. Study includes several different mini-games. For example, in chemistry you will conduct various experiments, in biology you will dissect a frog, and in English lessons you will build words from letters.

Bully is open to exploration and is divided into missions, the results of which often determine the degree of "coolness" in the eyes of a particular group. For example, nerds will appreciate the lunges of athletes and vice versa. The cops and crime rate in Bully is replaced by the prefects and the trouble level. Simply put, petty hooliganism can go unpunished, but in the event of serious misconduct, the “troubleshooting” will skyrocket and you will have to flee or answer for your actions.

Much like GTA, the fights in Bully are pretty straightforward. In most cases, hand-to-hand combat awaits you, and completing side missions will allow you to learn various combat techniques. As already mentioned, there are no firearms in the game, so you will have to use alternative options: objects that come to hand or slingshots.

Bully: Anniversary Edition is a world of testosterone aggression, in which there is a place for real feelings. Here teenagers solve their hypertrophied problems - who is worthy of respect, who is an outsider and how to invite a girl out on a date and then not get caught up for it. In general, this is a game with a full of irony plot, sometimes silly, but kind in its own way, and its passage will bring a lot of pleasure not only to GTA fans, but also to those who are not familiar with Rockstar Games games.
Bully: Anniversary Edition is available in the App Store for 529 rubles. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 9.0 or higher.
