The game Baldur's Gate came out in 2000 and at that time seemed to be the crown of the genre RPG. Firstly, it amazed the developers with attention to detail, secondly, it had a famously twisted plot, and thirdly, it was endowed with beautiful graphics. Over time, projects began to appear more complex and interesting, but Baldur's Gate has not lost its cult status and is still warmly remembered by fans of the genre.

In 2012, Overhaul Games decided to remember the past and released a re-release of the game, including new tasks, characters and other tasty additions. Fans were delighted with this decision, however, as often happens, expectations were not met, and instead of a refined remake, gamers received a slightly embellished original.
Of the additions, little has caused a positive response: the new heroes turned out to be in no way connected with the plot, and the tasks have little to do with the original story. It seems that the only thing for which the game was released is the port on iOS and Mac. On the whole, it really came out pretty good.
The gameplay reaches sky-high complexity, starting with the introductory tasks. And when the hero leaves the walls of his native fortress, an untrained user may lose his nerves: any danger encountered along the way can lead to the death of the character.
The fact is that heroes with a low level of pumping are literally helpless in the face of any threat, and in order to increase this very level, you will have to spend more than one hour. And only when the main character and his team have the opportunity to increase the scale of health, strength and skills, as well as acquire decent equipment, only then will it be possible to enter the battle without a nervous tremor.
But to say that it will be easier to play with the increased level is also impossible. In each new battle, enemies will become more and more, and they will attack more and more often. A short rest can end in a bloody massacre, so you should always be on the lookout.
From the very beginning, you will have to lose in battles several times in order to understand the tactics of the enemy and guess his vulnerabilities. Only then will it be possible to competently disperse your team so that it can defeat the enemy with common forces. Nevertheless, the outcome of the battle often depends on the case, therefore it is important to calculate everything well. Actually, you won't be able to play otherwise, since the difficulty in Baldur's Gate is simply prohibitive.
The team subordinate to the gamer will consist of six characters. It will be possible to recruit them throughout the game, but if you form a squad of individuals with the opposite worldview and characters, you can put together a party in which the heroes will sort things out with each other rather than focus on the enemy. In addition, neglecting the personal requests and needs of the characters can lead to the disintegration of the group.
The game has an amazingly many different tasks - they will be encountered almost at every step. In one place we will be offered to save a captive elf, in another - along the way we will meet a mysterious cave, and all this threatens with fascinating adventures, which are difficult to refuse. That is why there is nothing to be surprised if, after an hour or two of the game, the user finds himself wandering in a direction opposite to the one he initially strove for.
Unfortunately, the controls in Baldur's Gate are somewhat frustrating: it is difficult to select inventory, pick up various items and go through doors. However, adjusting to difficulties is not so difficult, although players with little experience can be scared away by such difficulties.
Optimization, thanks to updates, pleases a little more than at the time of release, when the number of bugs went off scale. Now Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition does not frustrate with sudden crashes and glitches, but there are still minor bugs. And yes - Russian localization is available.
To summarize, it should be noted that Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is a game, first of all, for experienced gamers who have gone through the original version and want to refresh their impressions. For a new generation, the RPG in question may seem extremely archaic, but the responsibility for this lies entirely with Overhaul Games.
