A few hours ago, Apple released iOS 5.1.1 update fixing some bugs. We strongly recommend all users awaiting the release of the untethered iOS 5.1 jailbreak not to update their devices. But, if under any circumstances, you still had to update to iOS 5.1.1, then we are glad to present you with instructions,
allowing you to jailbreak your i-device on the latest firmware. ! Note. This tutorial allows you to perform tethered jailbreak on iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G and iPod Touch 3G only. You will need Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b and iOS 5.1 firmware for your device (this version of Redsn0w does not support iOS 5.1.1, but it can crack it).

1. Download RedSn0w 0.9.10b8b and iOS 5.1 for your device.
2. Connect your device to your computer and put it into DFU mode.
3. Launch Redsn0w, click Extras -> Select IPSW> and select the IOS 5.1 corresponding to your device.
4. After RedSn0w detects the firmware version, return to the RedSn0w home page and click the Jailbreak button.
5. Check the "Install Cydia" box.
6. After the jailbreak is complete, the device should reboot. After rebooting, put your device back into DFU mode.
7. To boot in "tethered mode" run RedSn0w and click on the "Just Boot" button in the Extras section.
8. After rebooting, you will get a working Cydia application on your device's Springboard (home screen).
! Note. You will get IOS 5.1.1 tethered jailbreak, working until the device is turned off. After each reboot (shutdown), you will need to repeat steps 7 and 8 of this manual to get a fully functional device. This guide will NOT work on iPad 2, iPhone 4S, or iPad 3.
