For the vast majority of users, the phrase "graphic editor" is associated with Photoshop. Indeed, the development of Adobe has dominated its segment for quite a long time, but gradually competing products are approaching it both in terms of functionality and usability. First of all, we are talking about the Pixelmator application for Mac OS X.

Pixelmator is a fairly young project when compared to Photoshop - the first version was launched in 2007. However, many Macintosh users now prefer to work with this program. Of course, there are a number of reasons for this, the main of which is the pleasant user-friendly interface. There are more compelling reasons for Pixelmator, but a well-designed graphical interface of the application attracts image editing enthusiasts and professionals more than the ascetic design of Adobe's program.
If we talk about more pragmatic advantages, then here it is necessary to highlight more rational use of system resources and low, in comparison with other similar editors, power consumption of Pixelmator (after all, the program was created exclusively for Mac and it would be stupid to expect the same from Photoshop).

As for the functionality, here Pixelmator is noticeably inferior to its main competitor, but a significant difference will be only for specialists - for amateur photo retouching, creating collages or transferring objects from one picture to another, the editor's capabilities are quite enough.
In addition, the utility works with almost all popular image formats and offers a lot of tools borrowed from competitors. At the same time, its cost is incomparably lower than the price tag of Photoshop - at the moment Pixelmator can be downloaded for 499 rubles.
