A few years ago, equipment for professional DJs cost a lot of money, and therefore beginners and amateurs were forced to be content with virtual consoles for mixing tracks. Today the situation has radically changed and almost everyone can buy a compact inexpensive controller. As an example of such a device, consider the DJ Control Instinct from Hercules.

So, the DJ Control Instinct package includes the controller itself with an 8-pin Lightning cable for connecting to an iPad and a USB cable for connecting to a Mac or Windows PC, a warranty card and detailed instructions.

To work, you will also need the DJUCED iOS application, which can be downloaded from the App Store (the program costs 169 rubles). For desktop platforms, the application is available on the official website of DJUCED.

On the front end of the console there is a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones, on the back - two outputs for a "tulip" and a stereo 1/8 "jack. The stability of the device is ensured by four rubber-padded feet. Externally, the controller looks very presentable, despite its miniature dimensions (265 x 187 x 47 mm). By the way, the DJ Control Instinct weighs less than a kilogram, which makes it very easy to transport. The working surface of the console is conventionally divided into three parts - two decks with jog wheels (discs) on the sides and a central panel with an equalizer, faders, crossfader and other mixing controls.

To start working with DJ Control Instinct, you need to connect an iPad with the DJUCED application installed or a computer with a desktop version of DJUCED 18 software and equipment for sound output. Use the navigation buttons between the EQ knobs to load the tracks to be mixed onto the decks. You should also pay attention to the "Vinyl" button, which turns on or off the jog scratching mode.

By the way, they recognize the force of pressing and are fixed very firmly, taking into account possible loads. In the Off position, the Vinyl buttons are used to navigate the track and modulate. It is worth noting the presence of a tempo and beats sync button, which greatly simplifies the mixing process. In general, playing with the controller and software from DJUCED is quite simple, if you practice a little, even a beginner will be able to mix well.

Unlike previous models of compact controllers from Hercules, DJ Control Instinct pleases with tighter volume sliders - now you don't have to worry that they will suddenly shift after an accidental touch. The crossfader is easier to move, which is also very convenient. The regulators are illuminated with red diodes, which allows you to control their position in the dark. Other useful functions of the controller include the ability to create sound bites using a sequencer or filters, add loops and samples to tracks, save and share recorded mixes as MP3 files, tempo sync function, etc.

In general, DJ Control Instinct leaves a rather favorable impression - despite its small dimensions, the console quite meets the needs of most beginners and advanced DJs. Portability, affordable price, ease of setup and use bring it to one of the leading positions in the price / quality ratio in its category. The advantages include the software in the form of desktop and mobile applications, which will not cause difficulties even for a novice user.
