Most iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users use Apple's branded EarPods to listen to music and make calls, but the headset can do many more, as discussed below.

The modern version of Apple's branded headphones "EarPods with remote control and microphone" is supplied with smartphones iPhone 5 and newer, as well as all versions of iPod media players. You can also purchase a headset separately.

- Buy original Apple EarPods with Lightning connector
The remote control consists of only three buttons and a built-in microphone, but it allows you to perform a number of functions, such as: making calls, working with the Siri voice assistant, taking photos and videos, managing VoIP clients, and much more.

How to switch (pause, rewind) songs on headphones for iPhone
Almost every iPhone user regularly watches or listens to movies, music, clips, podcasts, etc. on their smartphone. Naturally, to control playback it is not at all necessary to pick up the device and even unlock it - the most necessary commands are available through the EarPods remote control.
- Volume control - buttons "+" and "-";
- Pause / Play - the central button of the remote control;
- Go to the next track - quickly press the center button twice;
- Go to the previous track - quickly press the center button three times;
- Fast forward the track - quickly press and hold the center button twice;
- Rewind the track - quickly press and hold the center button three times.
How to Take Photos and Videos with iPhone Headphones
The EarPods remote control can also be used to control the "shutter" of the device's camera (relevant both for the stock Camera application in iOS and for third-party programs that support control from the headphone remote control). To do this is quite simple - just launch the required application and take photos (single click on the central button of the remote control) or video (one click on the central button to start and another one to end recording).
Interacting with Siri
Any voice assistant a priori implies the ability to interact with it in “hands-free” mode, and of course Siri is no exception. Starting with iOS 9, Apple has significantly improved the virtual assistant, in particular, by teaching it to distinguish between user voices. To control Siri using headphones, you just need to press and hold the center button of the remote, and then repeat this action for each request.

How to make (answer) calls with iPhone headphones
Of course, with EarPods you can make calls without taking your phone out of your pocket. This is done using the following commands:
- Dial the number from the address book - hold down the central button and after the signal ask Siri to dial the required number (Siri must be activated in the settings).
- Ring volume control - buttons "+" and "-" on the remote control;
- Accept an incoming call - press the center button once;
- Reject an incoming call - press and hold the center button of the remote control for a few seconds. Double beep will confirm call reset;
- End the conversation - press the center button once;
- Put the call on hold and accept the parallel call - single press on the center button. A similar action to return to a held call;
- Switch to a new incoming call, ending the current call - press and hold the center button.

Controlling Music with VoiceOver
People with visual impairments will appreciate the ability to control music playback with VoiceOver. By pressing and holding the center button of the headphone remote control, the user will hear the names of playing playlists and tracks, and a single press of the center button allows switching between them at the time of pronunciation. In this case, the function must be activated in Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver.
Support and compatibility
Apple EarPods are supported by absolutely all models of iOS devices, however, on some older iPhones, iPads and iPods, not all of the commands and functions listed above will be available to the user. In addition, it is worth considering that for the Chinese market, Apple is releasing a special modification of the headphones that is only compatible with the iPhone 4S and later.
Safety of use
Apple warns that using contaminated earphones can lead to skin irritation or ear infections. An antiseptic or isopropyl alcohol is recommended to clean the surface of the headset.

Pay also attention to the item "Volume limitation" in the menu Settings → Music. If this function is active, the system, for security reasons, will not allow increasing the playback volume above the set limit.
