Blue folders on the desktop look too conservative. But why keep them that way if you can change it manually? This will help liven up the desktop, and make the folder icons a lot more fun, for example, in the form of emoticons.

Filling your desktop with emoji icons instead of regular folders can be a fun and easy way to organize information on your iMac or MacBook.
Using emojis may sound frivolous, but along with GIFs, they have already become an important way of expressing yourself when people communicate through text messages and social media. Emoticons have already become a part of our daily life, being placed on items of clothing, blankets and pillows and even becoming heroes of a feature film.
How to change folder icons to emoji on Mac
1. Search for the emoticons you need on the Emojipedia website or on any other resource and save the pictures on your computer.

2. Open the downloaded emoticon image in the Preview application.
To make the image transparent, click the markup icon (it looks like a pencil) and then select the magic wand tool, click on the background of the picture so that a moving path appears around it, and click Edit → Cut (detail).

3. Click Edit → Select All (or press the keyboard shortcut ⌘Cmd + A).
4. When the highlighted emoticon appears on the screen, press ⌘Cmd + C (copy).

5. Right-click on the folder where you want to change the icon.
6. Click Properties.
7. In the window that appears, click on the blue folder icon and apply the keyboard shortcut ⌘Cmd + V (paste).

You should see your emoticons appear instead of the default folder image.

You can also delete the text in the folder name and replace it with a space. So only emoji will be displayed on the desktop, without any signatures to them.
